Mr. Fiore co-founded Life Science Group in 1997. His business interests include essentially all facets of biotechnology management, business development, scientific discovery and finance.
In 2006, Mr. Fiore founded Life Science Pharmaceuticals (LSP), a biotechnology company specializing in multiple therapeutic areas. In 2009, Jim founded Extended Delivery Pharmaceuticals (EDP), a company developing a new therapeutic candidate targeting diabetes. He has served as LSP’s and EDP’s President and CEO since inception. LSP is currently developing four monoclonal antibodies targeting cancer. In November 2008, LSP successfully completed a major licensing and collaboration agreement with Abbott to develop antibody 806. Jim has made scientific contributions toward the development of LSP’s product candidates including new patented inventions. For example, Mr. Fiore is the inventor of a patent that elucidates the activity of the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFr) in psoriasis and other proliferative skin diseases including a method to treat same.
Jim has extensive experience in biotechnology licensing. He has negotiated and executed licenses with academic and commercial organizations in multiple countries and continents. A partial list of organizations that have participated in license agreements negotiated by Mr. Fiore include: Abbott Laboratories, Ludwig Institute, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, MIT, Dana Farber Cancer Institute (Harvard), National Institute of Immunology of India, CSIRO and Kyowa Hakko Kirin.
Jim enjoys pro-bono work in support of biotechnology and academic scientists. Prior to founding the LSG, Mr. Fiore was a founder and director of Bio-Florida, the Florida State Chapter of the Biotechnology Industry Organization. Since its founding, Bio-Florida has worked with state government to attract prestigious biomedical research institutions including Scripps, Torrey Pines and Stowers. He has also mentored and supported scientific/business programs in prestigious academic institutions.
